Elmstead Road - temporary one way system

Elmstead Road - temporary one way system

Web Master21 Jan 2016 - 17:46

Anyone driving to and from Wivenhoe Town Football Club should be aware that Essex CC will be implementing a one way system from Friday 22nd January.

If travelling from outside Wivenhoe you will still be permitted to enter Elmstead Road from the B1027, Brightlingsea Road.

If travelling from Wivenhoe, drivers will instead have to travel towards Alresford and either join the B1027 via Keelars Lane or alternatively follow the official diversion route from Wivenhoe to the Brightlingsea Road via Alresford.

Drivers returning from the club towards Wivenhoe may then return via Elmstead Road towards the flag pub. Anyone driving anywhere else will have to follow Elmstead Road into Wivenhoe and then go via Keelars Lane or Alresford to return to the B1027, Brightlingsea Road.

The one way system is due to stay in place for the the duration of the work to build a cycle way along Colchester Road which is scheduled to be completed at the end of March. Colchester Road is also closed.

If you choose to walk to the ground rather than drive please be aware that Elmstead Road is currently busier than usual and it may be advisable to walk via the Vine Farm Estate and then the foot path in the field alongside Elmstead Road. This will avoid the section of the road without a pavement.
